- Universal re-releasing DVDs with shoddy, Photoshopped covers (The Thing actually having the "artwork" from the video game!?)

    - The elderly annoying bint at my showing of Spider-Man 2 who kept on going "Aaaw, poor Peter Parker" to her grandchildren everytime something bad happened. Ironically, the children were fine.

    - Flipper DVDs.

    - Distributor's cutting films to get a lower classification to pull in more phat cash.

    - Uwe Boll.

    - Arnie at the Republican convention.

    - Great composers snuffing it left, right and centre.

    - Futurama getting cancelled.

    - Ads proclaiming "Piracy funds terrorists!!" I can imagine Bin Laden sitting in his cave with two VCRs hooked together copying his screener copy of Alien VS Predator.

    - Alien VS Predator.

Oh, and miker.... BEST AVATAR EVER.

Wow - it's quiet around here at the moment. Good old summer holidays?

Maybe what's needed, to get a good topic going, is a bit of old fashioned conflict. But let's try something other than mac vs pc or film vs digital - how about things we dislike about movies.

I'll go first with a few to get things started. Everyone is invited to jump in, disagree, and add your own... come on don't be shy - get it off your chest... and remember - it's only a bit of fun.

? Samuel L Jackson shouting in a film.

? Why the cheesy song over the end credits.

? All action, guns, explosions and car chases but no plot. That's what video games are for.

? Trailers - 99% of them are the same regardless of what the film is. Show just a little creativity - PLEASE!!!!!!

? The same goes for posters - big airbrushed heads of the stars again - good idea.

? British films involving east-end gangsters. Whoa, how original.

? The 'good guy' ALWAYS wins - BOOOOORING.

    ? Lowest common denominators

? Multiplexes - hey nice carpet!

? 'Hot Dogs' at the multiplex - what the French Connection UK is that glowing red piece of slime?!!!. Here's a simple tip: a hot dog should be a bread roll with a sausage - and onions ARE an INTEGRAL ingredient!

? And why does even the tiniest bag of pick n mix cost ?5.80 in a multiplex?

? And may I have some Coke with my ice please.

    ? No leg room.

? Historical facts - pah the USA doesn't feature positively enough - let's re-write them.

? The USA saves the world again - hooraaaah!

? People that won't watch a film if it's over 6 years old...

    ? or if it's in B+W...

    ? or has subtitles.

? The Matrix movies. 'What is The Matrix?' It's a shit trilogy of films, that's what it is!

    ? Remakes of classics.

    ? Remakes.

    ? Sequels (in most cases).

? Comedies that have the same jokes as those from 30 years ago.

    ? Formulas

? The demise of Steve Martin

? George Lucas - you have become the evil empire. (Any hope for Ep III? Yoda farts - say no more!).

    ? Catherine Zeta-Jones.

? On DVDs - the extras that are titled 'Making of' but are merely the actors stating how much they loved working with the director and/or their co-stars.

? And why is a menu considered an 'extra'.

? Full-screen DVD versions of movies that were originally made in widescreen. Why?

    ? Newbies and Zombies.

? Robert De Niro. Yes, I AM talking to you and I'm asking what you're doing with your career.

    ? Harry Potter.

? Dirty Dancing. Why do girls all love it - it sucks!

    - Why do people who've already seen the film always keep saying what you've just seen if you're watching the movie with them?

    - Bad trailers. They make me laugh

    - Movies without a single mise en scene shot

    - Nicole Kidman

    - I don't like clich?s. No really don't.

    - Waiting for movies to come out in Europe after they've been released everywhere else months before

    - I hate 'dismissed' and especially the american folks in that show. But don't blame me for watching it when it comes up. Moving pictures!

    - I hate black people who are always seeing things on a negative racially basis, and keep talking about brothers and sisters vs rest.

    - I hate it when girls give stupid hints, therefore missing the point what they want, therefore missing some sweet loving.

    - therefore I also hate myself for missing those hints

    - I hate 'Lilly Marleen' or whatever that german movie's called from the 70's

    - The first Matrix [img]graemlins/heart.gif[/img] but the 2nd and the third were complete piles of (can't find poo picture)

    - Dolph Lundgren

    - Steven Seagal

    - Steven Seagal movies. How he's always da man. Da silent killa man. How he cries after he read the screenplay he wrote

    - Wire-fighting. I know it's supposed to be some kind of convention of kung fu movies, but to me it still looks like utter unrealistic crap

    - Action movies shootouts. And how the shootouts are filmed. Try to come up with something different, please, new ways to film those shootouts

and i hate fake people. Again, watch dismissed. And Steven Saegal sucks too.

Hey miker, did you get your stromtrooper from a powerbook forum?

    Ahh, hatred threads.

People who dont turn off their phones in the cinema.

People who actually answer their phone in the cinema.

Not taking student discount on weekends.

Lots of good movies only getting "limited releases."

People who think Farenheit 911 represents a balanced view of world affairs.

    Schadenfreude.

    Colleges outdated equipment.

    Anti-intellectualism.

Tabloid movie reviews. Hell, Tabloids in general.

The fact that Empire and Total Film give nearly every film on their cover 4 stars.

Freddy Sheperd. Not film related, but what the hell is he doing?
